Milwaukee 48-22-6825 25Ft Compact Nylon Bond Blade Protection Auto Lock Tape

The auto lock stopped holding after about a month of regular use. The blade size and markings are very good but I would not recommend this product for the professional. I will buy another Milwaukee tape measure but it will not be an auto lock. I hope the design will be improved in the future because I did like the tape measure when it worked.

Auto lock did not last very long, other than that its a good dependable tape measure

The tape measure seems well built and I like how the tape reads, especially with the fractions to double check with, however, I bought the tape with the auto lock feather in mind and it stopped working within the first 6 months of light use, meaning occasional use on weekends and other diy projects around the house. I find that specific feature failing makes the tape difficult to use as the only way to hold the tape in place now is to always have a finger holding it in place. I should specify, the tape holds at longer distance, over 5 feet or so, between 3-5 feet it a 50/50 whether it will hold, and under 3 feet you need to have a plan.

This tape measure was my favorite by far when first purchased; I even bragged to coworkers about how much I liked it. Then, after about three months of use the auto-lock feature stopped working and the paint on the bottom side of the tape started to wear off. After disassembling the tape measure, I found there are three plastic ribs on each half of the body which were badly worn. I added a couple layers of thin rubber tape to both halves, cleaned the rubber feet that hold the tape and for now the tape measure is like new (besides the yellow paint). I am surprised how fast this tape measure wore out and if I didn’t like it so much I would have set it aside and got a different brand. I would recommend this tape to someone for only occasional use but definitely not for everyday use or for a large project.
